What is New Solutions?

New Solutions Social Innovation Fund

New Solutions supports social innovators across Ireland to develop, test, and grow new solutions to social challenges.

Through the Social Innovation Hub, the project combine funding, practical supports, and hands-on guidance so that innovators can focus on creating real impact.

Where does the funding come from?

New Solutions is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) EIST 2021–2027 Programme and is overseen by Pobal.

What New Solutions funding will deliver

It’s estimated that 600,000 end-of-life mattresses are sent to landfill each year.

We believe that we can solve 1/6th of the problem, making a huge contribution towards Ireland’s Circular Economy and supporting our community to gain decent employment, practical training and education to support economic self-determination and independence.

That’s where New Solutions and our philanthropic partners come in. Leveraging the value of the New Solutions Fund plus three philanthropic investments (in grant form) from The Community Foundation of Ireland (provider of match funding for New Solutions work) , The Lakeside Fund and the Michael Guinee Charitable Foundation, we are developing and scaling our operations.

To April 2028 when the Fund closes, we’ll be working to achieve the following:
process-mattresses

Process 100,000 mattresses annually

Expand processing capacity to recycle up to 100,000 mattresses every year, helping reduce landfill and recover valuable materials.

expand-employment

Expand employment opportunities

Increase our workforce from 15 to 25 employees, creating meaningful local employment through a growing circular economy.

develop-social-franchise

Develop a social franchise model

Create a scalable social franchise model that helps other communities establish local mattress recycling services.

expand-collection

Expand our collection network

Invest in additional vehicles and equipment to extend our collection service and reach more communities nationwide.

strengthen-circular-economy

Strengthen circular economy impact

Improve recycling processes to recover more materials, reduce waste and maximise the reuse of valuable resources.

raise-national-awareness

Raise awareness nationally
